Well, what a wake up call! I did a cold weather ride this morning with teammate Ron Stevens. While handling the overall temperature was not a problem from a body temp standpoint, it was simply amazing to see how quick one can get out of shape while trying to heal.
I've not touched the mountain bike sense my wreck in October...and today certainly indicated that I need to have it out quite a bit for the upcoming race season. Having quite the schedule to look forward to, I absolutely cannot ride in my current condition.
Anyway, we made it without a hitch. A tire upgrade is definitely in store before the first race in April. The rest of the bike handled just fine for not having been ridden in awhile. Just basic maintenance due around the corner.
I've decided to take the team to the next level and we are actively seeking some sponsorship for the upcoming season. With this season being quite event heavy, some financial assistance would certainly help out...just the entry fees could smack you around a bit!
So the intense training must now begin...

Training-
I got off to a late start in training and I still need to take it slow and easy. I'm currently going through some fairly extensive chiropractic care for some rib and back damage sustained in a crash at Town Run Trail in Indianapolis. I'm still looking at a couple of months to heal...but training has started.
At this point it is simple exercises focusing on rowing for the canoe portions of the race. I had considered taking the bike for a spin today however; I'm just not a fan of cold weather and decided against it. I think the trail would have been a muddy mess anyway.
Day 1 training weight was 195. I'd like to be down to maybe 175-180 for the race. We'll see how things go.
